At Methodist Specialty Care Center our dedicated volunteers are an essential part of our team. Each day, they visit patients in their rooms and work closely with staff to provide much-needed services.
Some of the tasks volunteers perform:
- Escort residents to therapy
- Help residents with meals
- Visit with residents
- Read and write letters for residents
- Deliver mail and newspapers to residents and staff
- Create personalized birthday and holiday cards for residents
- Celebrate birthdays with residents
- Perform various clerical tasks
- Help develop new activities for residents
- Act as host and hostess for social gatherings
- Decorate for special events and holidays
There are more than 60 volunteers per week at Methodist Specialty Care Center , providing services to the residents, staff and families. Adult volunteers are asked to commit to a minimum on 100 hours of service each year. Volunteer applicants must meet the following qualifications:
- Demonstrate a sincere desire to be of service
- Have adequate time to devote to the volunteer program
- Be of good moral character
